To set up your Trezor hardware wallet, follow these steps using the official setup page at trezor.io/start:
Open the Setup Page:
Connect your Trezor device to your computer using the provided USB cable.
Open your web browser and navigate to trezor.io/start.
Select Your Device:
On the setup page, select the model of your Trezor device (Trezor One or Trezor Model T).
Install Trezor Bridge:
If prompted, download and install Trezor Bridge. This software allows your Trezor device to communicate with your computer.
Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Initialize Your Trezor:
Click on “Create a new wallet” on the setup page.
Follow the on-screen instructions to initialize your device.
Set Up Your Recovery Seed:
Your Trezor device will generate a 24-word recovery seed. This is crucial for recovering your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.
Write down the seed words in the exact order shown. Store this seed phrase in a safe and secure place. Do not take a photo or store it digitally.
Confirm Your Recovery Seed:
Your Trezor device will ask you to confirm the recovery seed by selecting the words in the correct order.
This ensures that you have correctly written down the seed phrase.
Set Up a PIN:
Create a PIN to protect your Trezor device from unauthorized access. You will enter this PIN every time you connect your Trezor.
Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your PIN.
Access Your Wallet:
Once setup is complete, you can access your wallet by going to the Trezor Wallet web application.
Enter your PIN on the Trezor device to unlock your wallet.
Add Accounts: In the Trezor Wallet interface, you can add accounts for different cryptocurrencies supported by Trezor.
Receive Cryptocurrency: Select the account you want to receive funds into, click on “Receive,” and share the generated address with the sender.
Send Cryptocurrency: Select the account you want to send funds from, click on “Send,” enter the recipient’s address, amount, and confirm the transaction. You’ll need to approve the transaction on your Trezor device.
Firmware Updates: Regularly update your Trezor’s firmware to ensure it has the latest security features. The Trezor Wallet interface will notify you of available updates.
Security: Always keep your recovery seed offline and secure. Be aware of phishing attempts and only use official Trezor websites and software.
Passphrase: For added security, consider enabling a passphrase, which acts as a 25th word to your recovery seed.
